Yorgos Nousis is a Vienna-based Greek guitarist and composer. As a soloist, he regularly plays his own compositions: a fusion of classical, flamenco and jazz elements with strong influence of the traditional Balkan songs and dances. “Yorgos Nousis is a multi-faceted master guitarist,” wrote Paul Fowles in Classical Guitar magazine (November 2009).

Nousis held many concerts in Austria, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, France, Serbia and Greece and participated in numerous festivals: Aspekte Contemporary Music (Salzburg/Austria), Laufen Guitar Series (Laufen/Germany), European Music Festival  (Otwock/Poland), Hippocratia Music Festival (Kos/Greece), International Guitar Festival  (Naxos/Greece), International Classical Music Festival  (Vrnjci,   Vrnjacka Banja/Serbia), Donauinselfest (Wien/Austria), European Film Festival (Bucharest/Romania)

The young guitarist started composing at the beginning of his musical career. He wrote pieces for guitar, piano and ensembles. Some works were composed and arranged for movies, the radio and television, while others were performed at presentations and exhibitions. The composition “Mamen” for solo guitar won the first prize at the International Composition Competition (2012), organized by the Franz Schubert Konservatorium in Vienna, Austria, in the category of works for solo instrument or voice. Nousis has also collaborated with KulturKontakt Austria.

“My guitar” is Nousis’ second CD. The first one, “An introduction to a theme”, performed together with Roger Lock (bass guitar), Alex Petkov (drums) and Clemens Nowak (piano), was released in Vienna in 2008. Both CDs contain his original compositions and arrangements.
