Tomasz Zawierucha - Guitar

"Without a doubt, Mr. Zawierucha is one of the most interesting personalities of the guitar scene of his generation" - Jun Sugawara of Gendai Guitar Magazine wrote about his solo recital at the Bunka-Kaikan Recital Hall in Tokyo. Al Kunze of Soundboard Magazine USA had this to say about his Bach CD recording: "His performance of the Chaconne is fascinating. "Tomasz Zawierucha was born in Poznań, Poland, studied in his hometown and at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Weimar.

While still a student, he won numerous competitions, including the prestigious Tokyo International Guitar Competition. Since then he has performed worldwide, and is also active as a lecturer and jury member at various master classes and international guitar competitions. As a sought-after and committed chamber musician, he works with artists such as Hideko Kobayashi, Thomas Müller-Pering and Olaf Van Gonnissen. His interest is not only in the modern concert guitar, but also in historical predecessors such as the baroque guitar. The CD productions, which have received several awards from the specialized press ("Excellent recording" - GuitarArt Magazine, "Five stars" - The Times, "Special rec-ommended" - The Records Geijutsu Disc Review), have been released in Germany (Classic Clips), Japan (Gendai Guitar) and in Great Britain (DGF). In May 2021 the new CD production "Hommage à Chopin - Tomasz Zawierucha plays Tansman" was released by Ars Produktion.

Only three years after his graduation he was appointed as a substitute professor at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Weimar. His further academic stations included the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. In 2014 Tomasz Zawierucha was appointed professor of guitar at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. Tomasz Zawierucha plays Römmich guitars and D'Addario strings.
